BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Jan. 23, 2009 – More than 70 percent of K-12 technology leaders who responded to a survey conducted by CDW-G last year said they support the idea of going “green,” but don’t know everything they could do to improve energy efficiency. To power one computer continuously can cost $125 in direct annual electrical fees, according to a report by the University of Colorado at Boulder’s Environmental Center. Centralized controls in the Power Manager application allow network administrators to create and enforce energy conservation policies customized to meet the needs of multiple locations. Computer users are alerted that a computer is going to shut down, and given the option to bypass the shut-down if needed. Power manager is easy to deploy using Active Directory or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) group policies to push out client software, or by using the workstation grouping feature to simplify large installations.
