Lightspeed Systems and Logic Key® Partner to Integrate Network Monitoring and Reporting into Student Information System

New partnership enables school administrators to easily monitor online activity through central source for student information to improve school safety and security

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – May 14, 2009 – Lightspeed Systems Inc., leading developer of network security software for the education market, has partnered with Logic Key Inc., an information technology company that provides practical, up-to-the-minute solutions for several industries, to combine network monitoring and reporting with student information management. The partnership provides schools with a powerful integrated software solution to more effectively identify and address possible safety and security issues, and ensure the well-being of students and staff.

“Together, Lightspeed Systems and Logic Key are providing education leaders with the information they need to make informed decisions for the protection of students and staff,” said Scott Garrison, president of Lightspeed Systems. “This partnership is another step in our continuing commitment to streamline network management and help schools provide a safe 21st century learning environment.”

The Harmony® School Management Software from Logic Key now features reports of student Internet usage obtained from Total Traffic Control, Lightspeed System’s network security and management software. Information on a student’s Internet activities and suspicious search-engine queries, such as terms related to bomb making, gang involvement and suicide, are displayed in the student information system interface.

Schools can easily monitor students’ online activity through the main access point for mission-critical school data, so key information is not missed, particularly for time-sensitive issues. By evaluating student Internet usage, administrators, counselors and other designated staff can detect potential threats to school safety and document acceptable-use-policy violations. With this information, educators can safeguard students, resolve inappropriate online behavior, and ensure students get the help they need.

Additionally, the integration enables schools to import parent e-mail addresses into the Total Traffic Control spam filter to prevent e-mail over-blocking, which is common at the start of the school year.

“Harmony has always been a leader in providing parent access to student information and improving school-to-home communication,” said Tyler Naas, president of Logic Key. “The partnership with Lightspeed was a natural progression that allows Harmony to provide even more information to parents and administrators.”

Harmony School Management Software is a robust and flexible application that allows schools to easily access and manage student information and data critical to school administration, including student demographics, enrollment, grades, attendance, discipline, health records, textbook inventory, and cafeteria services. The software minimizes redundant data entry and reduces time spent performing routine duties. The quick access to real-time data via e-mail and text messaging for parents and students enhances school-to-home communications. By combining all aspects of school administration with student information, Harmony improves overall school efficiency, allowing staff to focus on their most important work—providing high-quality education for students.

Total Traffic Control is a single, comprehensive software solution for managing, monitoring and securing school networks. It provides a full range of powerful, easy-to-use network management and security features, including content filtering, spam management, bandwidth management, antivirus protection, extensive reporting capabilities, email archiving, and mobile filtering. Schools can track user activity, verify acceptable use policies are being followed on and off the network, reduce dangerous and costly security threats, ensure school resources are utilized safely and effectively, and easily view and share custom reports of critical information.

Logic Key is offering the networking monitoring and reporting from Total Traffic Control as a standard feature in the Harmony School Management Software, at no additional charge. The integrated software is available now for K-12 school districts to purchase.
