Lightspeed Systems Launches TTC v7.0

TTC 7.0 adds platforms for its email archiving, email server AV, mobile filtering, and integrates with netTrekker d.i.

BAKERSFIELD, CA – February 6, 2008 – Lightspeed Systems, developer of innovative security software products for the educational market, today announced the release of Total Traffic Control (TTC) v7.0. The newest version of Lightspeed Systems's comprehensive security software was developed specifically to protect school networks, students, and staff from the dangers of the Internet at the gateway, desktop, and mobile client.

Version 7.0 enhancements make TTC the most comprehensive and efficient security software product available to schools. Specifically developed for K-12 school districts, TTC simplifies the administrator’s daily tasks by keeping diverse and transient groups safe online while complying with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).

"Total Traffic Control v7.0 was developed with the assistance of school district technology coordinators and network administrators throughout the country who are seeking a single product that addresses all of their unique security needs," said Scott Garrison, President of Lightspeed Systems. "With shrinking technology budgets and limited IT staff, our educational customers were asking for one integrated, easy-to-manage product to protect all school computers on and off the network."

TTC's core functionality includes Internet filtering, spam management, bandwidth management, extensive reporting, anti-virus, message archiving, and layered security.

TTC v7.0 incorporates several new features and functionality including instant message and email archiving for Exchange Server 2003, GroupWise, and POP3, mail server antivirus, mobile filtering for Macs and PCs, filtering and reporting for thin client lab environments deploying Citrix® clients, NComputing® terminals, and similar devices, and secure proxy blocking.

In addition, TTC is the only Internet filter fully integrated with the award-winning netTrekker d.i.® educational search product. netTrekker d.i. connects students and staff to more than 180,000 hand-selected, educator-approved sites that are organized by readability level and aligned with state standards. Its integration with TTC ensures no netTrekker site will ever be blocked.

Other TTC v7.0 highlights include:

  • The most comprehensive and accurate content database in the educational market.
  • Lightspeed Systems continuously downloads the entire known Internet, distributing over 25 million active URLs and IP addresses to more than 110 categories.
  • A rating and categorization of every URL on the Internet is available for review at www.erating.com.
  • Suspicious search engine queries report and other human resources reports to alert administration of unauthorized or illegal Internet usage.
  • Detection and blocking of proxies used to bypass content filtering.
